A drama centered on the romance between Ernest Hemingway and
WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn, Hemingway’s inspiration for For Whom the
Bell Tolls and the only woman who ever asked for a divorce from the writer.
Testimonial :
The old lady make up was much better than the old man make
up at the end - he looked just like Clive Owen with white beard. At the
beginning, I thought Owen was miscast in the movie, but then got used to him as
Hemingway.
The film was good, it kept me hooked. I personally think
that it's impossible to cover the depth and complexity of wars in 2 1/2 hours,
but here it worked - in getting the fight of the Spanish War (which was the
most important part of their relationship) and giving the overview of the
horror in the following wars. I didn't like the black and white transitions
that much - I found them distracting and illogical, but otherwise the film was
well directed and the cast was great. I am thankful to HBO for all the great
movies I've been watching on TV!
