Literasia.com-Surprise to
see the iconic Specification Triumph. Speed Triple R Triumph has outfitted the new Speed Triple R
with an Öhlins NIX30 43mm fork in front and a TTX36 rear shock. Compression and
rebound damping in the fork are separated, so each stanchion can focus on its
specific task.
The Speed
Triple R’s engine goes (mostly) untouched, although that’s a non-issue in our
minds. The 1050cc engine has always been one of our favorites, with plenty of
torque down low, great midrange, and power.
Starting with the suspension, Triumph upgraded the Speed Triple R with
Swedish-based Ohlins components. The front features the latest NIX30 43mm
forks, and a TTX36 Monoshock out back. The 2012 Speed Triple R handling is
further refined with lightweight, five-spoke forged aluminum PVM wheels that
weigh 3.7 lbs. less than the previous Speed Triple. This lightweight also help
minimize unsprung weight, allowing for more precise handling.
